    Description

    THIS ANTIQUE DOCTORS TOOL WAS FOR BLOOD LETTING  CALLED A FLEAM IT WAS TO RID THE BODY OF EVIL SPIRITS & DISEASE ETC. MADE IN ENGLAND BY JOSEPH RODGERS & SONS. THE MALTESE SYMBOL WAS REGISTERED BY HIM IN 1764 WHICH MAKES THE STARTING DATE  PRIOR TO THE VICTORIA ERA,  IT IS APPROX. 3 1/8 INCHES LONG WITH 3   3 1/8 INCH BLADES,  . BLOOD LETTING WAS A COMMON PRACTICE FOR CENTURIES,  THE HANDLES ARE BRASS.  IT IS FAIRLY TIGHT FITTING.  TARNISH ON THE BLADES  IS SHOWN IN THE PHOTO’S.  THE BLOOD LETTING TOOL WAS USED EVEN AFTER THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR  BUT DIED OUT BEFORE THE TURN OF THE CENTURIES. .   THESE KNIVES WERE MADE FOR DOCTORS,  VETERINARIANS, EVEN BARBERS & DENTISTS PRACTICED BLOOD LETTING..GREAT EARLY MEDICAL DEVICE,  ...   ,  SCARCE ONE   SO NICE....
