    Up for sale is a set of 4 bread and butter plates in the signature pattern,
    OISEAUX DE PARADIS
    by Gien, the renowned French faience manufacturer.
    The pattern features a background of ivory earthenware decorated with flowers, leaves and a prominent, central motif - a colorful
    “Bird of Paradise
    .”  The rim is scalloped and ringed in blue.
    I bought these in the town of Gien in France c. 1993, as part of a dinner service.  I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Gien for over 25 years, but it is time to “let go.”
    The bread & butter plates are 6½” in diameter.  The underside is hallmarked with the Gien
    Oiseaux de Paradis
    logo and

    Garanti, Lave-vaisselle,
    dishwasher proof.  There are some scattered marks on the bottoms (part of the manufacturing process).   Some crazing appears if the plate is held at an angle in the light.
    The plates are in good used condition – one plate has a small chip ( ¼” ) on the underside rim
