HUGE GUATEMALAN JADEITE JADE MAYAN CORN GOD CARVING
This is it: The largest Mayan carving we have produced yet! This huge representation of the Mayan corn god Yum Kaax was made from a beautiful dark blue/green jade called Jemma. The peak of this carving is a large ear of corn that, as I'm sure you know, was sacred to the Maya. The carver also wanted to show the cycle of life and death, as each side has a young and old man. All sides of this beautiful stone were carved. The first 2 photos in natural light show its true color. Feel free to make us an offer!
This carving was made at our shop in Copan Ruinas, Honduras by a descendant of the Chor'ti Maya.
Jade has been used as a sacred stone for centuries, bringing serenity, wisdom, balance and all things associated with the best of spiritual practices.
This carving measures 11 x 9 x 2.5 inches and weighs 8.75 lbs or 4020 grams.
All of our jade is ethically sourced from Guatemalan pickers. No heavy equipment is used.
